Every now and then I become so attached to a piece of art that it’s hard to sell it. But knowing that it’s going to a loving home makes it all worthwhile. When I’m sketching I think about how that piece will light up a room or the faces that view it.
This sketch is definitely one of those pieces of art I’m talking about.

Sketched on tanned tone paper, I used a black and white pen to sketch the outline shapes of my cat and books. I hold the pen loosely and then move the pen until the shapes I want are created. The imperfect lines add movement to the sketch.
I began to build up the fur with Inktense watercolour and then layered pastel pencil over the top of that to add depth and texture.
