What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

Is he not the cutest little fluffy dog you’ve ever seen? I came across fluffy on instagram and have been following his posts for a while.

So I painted him 🥰

He oozes the ultimate life lesson… be yourself!

There’s so much character in his tiny little face and I was so excited to paint him.

I drew a loose ink outline of him, exaggerating the movement of his fur. I then flooded his image with a layer of water and washed cream, beige, grey and brown washes of colour across it to lay down the base colours of his fur.

His fuzzy fur and his excited expression were the two main things I wanted to capture here. I focused on thin layers of watercolour in varying directions to achieve this.

Ordinarily the eyes of an animal carry a lot of the weight in the painting, but because they aren’t really visible here it was important that his mouth and the fur became the centre piece of the painting.
